Mary the mother of Jesus is intimately connected with Jesus
Christ as his mother even more so now in heaven. Jesus is the Son of God, the
Second Person of the Blessed Trinity and our savior the Christ.
Catholics and Christians do not worship the Blessed
Virgin Mary. Rather, we invoke the Mother of Jesus to intercede for us.
Yes,
there is only one Mediator with the Father who is Jesus Christ. Only
Jesus our Christ could have redeemed mankind, and this by becoming a man
on earth through the immaculate conception, his virgin mother.
Nevertheless, we pray
to Mary that she may intercede for us with her Divine Son to the
Father.
We frequently
request the assistance of prayers from our fellow men - how much more
powerful are the prayers and intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
There is not a single month in the year without several feasts in her
honor. Consider the months of August and September, for example, in
which there are seven feasts on the ecclesiastical calendar dedicated to
her. Catholics honor the
Virgin Mary, the Mother of Jesus Christ.
We call her the Mother of God,
because she indeed is the Mother of the one Divine Person, Jesus Christ,
Who has both the nature of God and the nature of Man. By this title of
“Mother of God,” we simply refer to her as the Virgin Mary. Mary was
filled with the Holy Spirit of God as stated in the bible when she went
to see her cousin in Luke
1:27; “filled with the Holy Ghost she cried out... Whence is this to me
that the Mother of my Lord should come to me?”“The Angel Gabriel was
sent to a Virgin espoused to a man whose name
was Joseph, of the House of David; and the Virgin’s name was Mary”.
Angel Gabriel the Blessed Virgin in the Gospel of St. Luke:
“Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women!”
“Fear not, Mary, for thou has found grace with God. Behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and shalt bring forth a Son, and thou shalt call His Name, Jesus... The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee and the power of the Most High shall overshadow thee. And therefore also the Holy One which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.”
We can not deny the honor of the Virgin Mary - chosen to be the Mother
of Jesus Christ. Even the Angel Gabriel, who was sent by God Himself,
honored and praised her. To this respect this site is in honor of Devotions to the Blessed Mother.
Mary, the Blessed Mother serves as the perfect example of a woman and
for motherhood for our modern times even as she did in history. This is
the reason for Blessed Mother Devotions.
The Blessed Virgin Mary is our model of Love and Compassion.
The Blessed Mother intercedes for us with her Son Jesus in heaven.
As brothers and sisters in Christ we are her children on earth.
